Stephen Ministry - Fr. Nick Novak
(281-421-0900)
Our congregation's Stephen Ministry equips lay
people through fifty hours of intense training to provide confidential,
one-to-one Christian care to individuals in our congregation and
community who are experiencing difficulties in their lives. Stephen
Ministry is Jesus caring for people through people.
The Stephen Ministry is an extension of the caring
atmosphere here at Trinity Church. This ministry utilizes well-trained
lay men and women who provide individuals in our congregation and
community with confidential, one-to-one distinctively Christian care
and support when they are experiencing any number of life's difficult
circumstances. We are very fortunate to have in our parish six persons
who have received the fifty hours of Stephen Ministry training. They
need to be exercising their ministry.
All of us face periods in our lives when it would be beneficial to
have someone to just be a friendly listener--a trained person who
has the time to sit down with us on a regular basis (away from the
church) and to be a compassionate, caring other. Stephen Ministers
are not fixers and do not pretend to be therapists--rather Stephen
Ministers are those who will lend an ear when life seems to close
in one us.
Care receivers might be going through a divorce;
might be grieving the loss of a loved one; might be facing retirement
issues; might be struggling with a health problem; or any other difficult
situation in life.
If you would like to have you very own Stephen
Minister, please give me a call and I will make arrangement for you
to have one.
The relationship between a Stephen Minister and
a care receiver is very conficential--it is not necessary for any
one of us who share in this Christian community at Trinity to bear
our grief and sorrows along.
You are welcome to give me a call if you or someone you know might benefit from
the love and concern of a Stephen Minister. We are here for you and
we want to exercise the ministry that God has given us.
