A
Verger is a committed lay minister who assists the clergy in the
conduct of public worship. The Vergers
are trained to offer assistance to the Altar Guild, Acolytes, Lay
Readers, LEMs, Musicians and
other lay participants of the liturgy. The local guild offers training
sessions four times a year which are
open to any interested person; especially alter guild directors and
acolyte wardens. The national guild holds a convention each year
in different locales which also offers training.
